Job Description Summary

The WELL at California State University Sacramento is looking for experienced certified personal trainers to join the fitness team. Individuals will be responsible for and must be comfortable performing fitness assessments and orientations, working one-on-one to two-on-one personal training sessions, and leading small group training classes. The ideal candidate must have a firm grasp on the exercise science related field and ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills.

Conditions of Employment

This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.

Monday 6AM – Midnight
Tuesday 6AM – Midnight
Wednesday 6AM – Midnight
Thursday 6AM – Midnight
Friday 6AM – 10PM
Saturday 8AM – 8PM
Sunday 10AM – 10PM

Summer Building Hours (Begin Tuesday, May 26, 2015)
Monday-Friday: 5:30am-8:00pm
Saturday-Sunday: 10:00am-5:00pm

Additional Work Schedule

Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 20 hours per work week (Sunday – Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per work week during breaks; Winter, Spring & Summer.

Majors/Fields of Study Exercise Biology, Health Science, Kinesiology, Nutrition Science, Physical Education, Physical Therapy, Recreation, Parks and Tourism Administration, Therapeutic Recreation
Minimum Qualifications

• Desire to work in recreation and as part of a team
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to follow directions
• Primary certification in personal training (ACE, ACSM, NASM, NSCA, etc.)
CPR/AED and First Aid Certified

• Previous experience working in fitness related field
RPTA/Kinesiology/Exercise Science Related Field (Major or Minor)

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct one-on-one personal training sessions, fitness assessments, and small group training sessions.
• Monitor activities for safety at all times
• Lead an effective group exercise class by applying sound exercise principles
• Communicate effectively with staff and participants
• Ensure all waivers are completed properly
• Respond to injuries and emergencies; activate the emergency action plan
• Attend pre-semester training and all-staff meetings throughout the semester
• Complete bi-weekly timesheets completely and accurately
• Foster professional standards among staff
• Be able to address customer service related questions in a positive manner
• Complete Incident/Accident reports properly
• Enforce policies of The WELL and Campus Recreation
• Assist in the set-up and breakdown of events
• Ensure accurate participation counts
• Effectively accomplish tasks in a timely manner
• Assist in survey implementation and tabulation where applicable
• Complete other duties as assigned by the Graduate Assistants or Professional Staff

Physical Requirements

Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; use of office equipment including computers, scanners, printers, telephones and copiers.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in an office and fitness center environment
• Continuous contact with staff
• Frequent contact with the campus community and the public.
